The Telegraph is looking for a proactive and positive individual to work in its SEO Editorial team, ensuring its content - whether news, lifestyle or otherwise - is performing at its best in search engines. Reporting into the Head of SEO News, the role will focus on getting the most out of what the business publishes and thinking originally about how we can improve in the promotion of live and topical content, working with respective teams to do so.
Key responsibilities
Work closely with the editorial team, supporting with swift SEO advice and optimisations
Stay abreast of the news cycle, informing News and editorial desks of trending topics throughout the day
Support our evergreen content strategies, brief articles and create clear optimisation strategies
Build high quality forward plans for upcoming news events, driving as much traffic as possible
Help create, improve and maintain SEO training for the wider newsroom
Skills required for the role
Experience working on SEO content projects
A thorough understanding of Google, Google Discover and how SEO works
An ability to build and maintain positive relationships across the business
Ability to respond effectively under pressure and adhere to deadlines
Experience using multiple tools (GSC, Screaming Frog, ahrefs, SemRush etc)
Knowledge of technical SEO (desirable)
News sense and knowledge of the news agenda and current affairs (desirable)
