Are you a reporter with a passionate desire to hold our school systems accountable, tell the compelling human interest stories of students and keep parents on the cutting edge of news they can use?
If so, you're the education reporter The Times of Northwest Indiana is looking for.
From investigations into academic performance, funding and financial management to stand-out student and teacher features, we're looking for an experienced journalist who can navigate public, charter, private, urban and suburban school districts to tell the most relevant and meaningful stories.
Though some school board meeting coverage will be required, this is not a beat about meeting coverage. We're looking for a reporter who can generate several stories a week while juggling long-term projects and Sunday news features and analytical pieces.
We lead our coverage area in all categories, and education can be no exception. If you want to help continue making us the best, go-to authority on the state of education along the south shore of Lake Michigan, please apply to work in this vibrant three-county market boasting Indiana's second-largest newspaper and online media company and located within the suburban Chicago footprint. Applicants will have a bachelor's degree, preferably at least three years of reporting experience at a daily newspaper or equivalent media company and an unquenchable desire to tell the stories that matter most.
