The Union newspaper is looking for a staff reporter to cover our City, County and Crime news beat for our five day a week print and online publication located in the heart of California’s Northern Sierra Nevada Mountains. Are you a hard news reporter who knows what it takes to get to the bottom of a good story? Are you a community oriented person who recognizes the importance of civic engagement and can pull a compelling article together out of a regularly scheduled council or board of supervisors meeting? Can you write concisely on deadline while also working separately on larger enterprise pieces for future publication? The Western Nevada County region is full of important stories that need to be told and The Union newspaper is looking for an important team player that will fit into our well established group of hardworking and award winning individuals. Our ideal candidate would be willing to cover a range of topics including council meetings from the City of Grass Valley and Nevada City, as well as Nevada County Board of Supervisors meetings and the occasional school board meeting. There will also be the opportunity to cover any other topics that might interest you and you will be allowed to flourish and grow a portfolio that could propel you further in your career.
