Job Description:
Serves as lead editor for content from University news writers and campus partners, developing strategic content to drive University pillar messaging and grow engagement across University channels.
Serves as lead writer for high-profile University events and oversees coordination of content for University events and awards.
Manages production of the UChicago e-newsletter, including content selection and headline tactics to grow readership and increase engagement.
Helps coordinate news pitches with University media relations team, ensuring strong alignment between the teams and the development of content with a focus on driving media interest.
Leads monthly brainstorming sessions within University Communications to create strategic content and stories highlighting the UChicago community and develops ways to leverage innovative technology platforms to incerase audience engagement.
Co-leads weekly meeting to coordinate the upcoming content schedule and foster alignment with our partners in Communications.
Serves as lead editor for social media content, advancing the quality and effectiveness of the Universityâ™s social channels.
Collaborates on digital projects with University Communications, UChicago Creative and other partners.
Leads regular content meetings with campus partners, developing opportunities to highlight impactful UChicago research, high-profile University events and initiatives.
Works with minimal guidance to edit complex manuscripts and other forms of copy for grammar, punctuation, spelling, style, form, sentence structure, clarity, consistency and accuracy. Creates online and/or print versions of publications.
Performs quality control checking at all stages of production for all written material in an editorial group.
Uses best practices and knowledge to write, update, and revise style notes for each assigned journal.
Performs other related work as needed.
