Reporter

The Upshot is seeking an experienced reporter and writer to join the Upshot, a close-knit, multidisciplinary group of writers and visual journalists. The ideal candidate loves to find and use data to reveal interesting and important facets of the world on a wide range of newsworthy topics. We are interested in work on education, crime, sports analytics or the economy, but are open to other proposals, or to generalists who have experience tackling new topics. This is a reporting position: You do not need to be a statistician, a web developer, a data scientist or a database expert, although candidates with those skills are welcome. But you do need to have experience reporting and driving data-related enterprise, and the ability to recognize interesting or promising opportunities to use data to cover a story in new ways.
