Part of News Corp, The Sun is a global publisher and one of the biggest news brands in the UK. Our talented and diverse team publishes the best coverage of showbiz, lifestyle, news, reality TV, tech, money and sport.

In early 2020 we launched a US edition and have grown the business in the past two years to a 140+ company.

Working with the senior backbench team, the candidate will help edit copy across all sections of the website to ensure the highest standards. They will also sign off push notifications and edit The US Sun's homepage when required to project our best stories and lead the news agenda.

Applicants should be experienced copy editors who know how to bring a story to life through text, photo and video. They should be enthusiastic, with a good eye for detail and be keen to ensure readers an unrivaled experience by making sure we have the best copy, pictures and video available - surpassing our competition.

The position will be based in News Corp’s Midtown Manhattan office.

We require a commitment to working two weekends a month.

Weekend shifts are 9am - 6pm. Additional weekday shifts available are 8am - 5pm, 9am - 6pm or 11am - 8pm.

Pay Rate: $200 - $250 per day

Key accountabilities:

Copy edit to ensure stories are punchy and in The US Sun style
Give feedback and guidance to reporters
Make sure stories are legally sound
Sign off push notifications to ensure we are the first to breaking news
Edit the homepage when needed so we are showcasing the best of our content and setting the news agenda for the U.S.

Key Skills and Experience:

At least 3 years of journalism experience
Must have journalism qualifications or a strong background in entertainment or news reporting/editing
Must have an understanding of audience analytics, social media, and SEO
Homepage editing experience is advantageous
