The Wall Street Journal’s Opinion section is looking for an editorial writer to join our editorial page writing and editing team to specifically work on “Review & Outlook” editorials. This person would be expected to contribute editorials and features based on thorough and in-depth research with detailed fact-checking. United under the banner “free markets, free people,” The Wall Street Journal Opinion section has long served as a forum for intelligent, values-driven commentary. While we aim to persuade, every word we publish is the product of rigorous reporting, research and debate. And though we uphold the same standards, we operate with complete independence from the newsroom. This position will be based in our New York office.
You Will:
Write editorials for the Review & Outlook column and features with a heavy emphasis on business, governance, politics, and market issues that reflect the Journal editorial page’s free market philosophy and that are tailored for the global audience of the Journal’s print edition and website.
In coordination with the editorial page editor, select topics for editorials, develop arguments, and write persuasive opinion articles.
Participate in editorial board meetings
Create content for digital platforms, including video, podcasts, and appearances on the Journal Editorial Report cable television show.
You Have:
College graduate with reporting and writing experience, preferably with an emphasis on political and economic content.
It is essential that candidates be familiar with the ideas, philosophy and principles for which the Wall Street Journal editorial page stands.
Flexible to do weekend/evening work as required.
Skilled with developing sources and expertise in a variety of subject areas.
High level of proficiency in writing, independent research and reporting.
The ability to work under deadline pressure.
Pay Range: $50,000 - $180,000
