The Wall Street Journal is looking for a business reporter to cover the American oil giants, based in Texas. Big oil companies are facing unprecedented pressure from investors and governments to reduce investments in fossil fuels and pivot to cleaner sources of energy. All the while, the world remains dependent on their oil and gas to supply the planet's energy needs. We seek an experienced, enterprising business reporter to cover Exxon, the Texas oil giant, along with Chevron, the other large descendant of the Standard Oil monopoly. You would be a leading member of a team focused on covering the overall oil and gas industry during a period of rapid transition and shifting government policies in response to climate change and the onset of electric vehicles. Energy experience is not essential, but interest in the subject matter is. You should have a demonstrated track record of developing sources and breaking news and delivering revelatory enterprise stories in highly competitive situations.
