Reporter, Sports

New Posted 9 September 2022 | New York, NY | The Wall Street Journal

The Wall Street Journal is looking for a reporter to cover the NBA and WNBA. This is the Journal’s primary beat writer covering all of professional basketball. You should be a self-starter with a desire to develop original enterprise reporting, seek deep sourcing across the leagues and push for news. The position requires an understanding of how the game and its culture have evolved in recent years. Data analysis has changed the way basketball itself is played. Individual players have gained immense power that sometimes transcends their teams. The game continues to become more global in nature. In addition to the NBA, you must also be a versatile reporter who can help out on other topics in the offseason and make major contributions to our coverage of areas such as Olympic sports. You will also work alongside other sports colleagues in reporting and executing bigger projects. WSJ Sports specializes in unexpected stories that speak to both hard-core fans and readers who don’t think of themselves as hard-core sports fans. You will report to Bruce Orwall, Global Sports Editor. While you may start the job working remotely, you will eventually be based in our New York office.
