The Washington Post is seeking an arts and entertainment editor to oversee its coverage of movies, television, music, art, theater, architecture, local events and more. This is a new position that offers the chance to lead an expanded department into a new phase. It’s an opportunity for someone with big ideas and, just as importantly, the ability to execute them.
The editor will work with a team of talented assignment editors, brilliant critics and ambitious staff writers to produce reviews, analyses, profiles, reported features and multimedia packages, and will also coordinate coverage with other departments, including breaking news. Generalists are preferred – the ideal candidate will have informed opinions on this year’s Oscars contenders, who’s winning the streaming wars, the Smithsonian’s expansion plans, Lincoln Center’s renovation, Rosalía and more. Well-qualified candidates will have at least five years of journalism experience and a track record of elevating the national conversation around arts and entertainment. Prior experience as a manager is a big plus.
This role is based in The Post’s Washington newsroom.
