This role requires an innovative thinker who is excited about connecting Post journalism to new audiences off-platform and wants to lead the industry in dynamic storytelling. The assignment editor will oversee daily operations and strategy for The Post’s branded Instagram accounts. The best candidates will be organized, communicative leaders who thrive on turning data into action. Candidates should have experience managing a news organization’s social accounts during breaking news, planned live events and quiet moments when there is time to craft that perfect post, Story or Reel. The ideal candidate will have a command of voice and tone on social media and the ability to write sharp headlines targeted at specific audiences. They should be excited about coaching others to consistently deliver clever, high-impact storytelling that takes advantage of Instagram’s distinct attributes. Candidates should be well-versed in analytics tools such as Chartbeat, Google Analytics and Instagram’s engagement insights; the ability to understand and act upon metrics when appropriate is imperative.
