The Washington Post is seeking a creative, resourceful and sharp assistant editor for Next Generation, a company-wide initiative aimed at helping The Post reach a younger and more diverse audience. This position will work on stories and projects that span the newsroom with a focus on experimentation. The ideal candidate will have insight into coverage areas that are of interest to new audiences. Working closely with Next Gen’s editor, the assistant editor must be comfortable working on several projects at once, and have ideas about trying out new forms of journalism and storytelling. This editor will work with the Next Gen editor and editors and reporters around the newsroom to conceive of stories, formats and lines of reporting that will engage new audiences and be hands-on in the editing, reporting and project managing of experimentation. This role requires an innovative thinker who is excited about connecting Post journalism to new audiences and thrives in a collaborative environment.
