The Washington Post is hiring a breaking news reporter in Features to write engaging stories that fall within the nexus of entertainment, media and celebrity. This reporter will work closely with the breaking news editor and other teams in Features to make sure The Post offers readers timely stories on the most interesting and newsworthy topics of the day in culture. Sometimes this will mean jumping on a story about a legal development in a court case, or a celebrity or media figure caught in a firestorm over controversial statements. Other times this writer will take ownership of stories that extend beyond a 24-hour news cycle. Surprising stories that lend themselves to original reporting will always be a priority. The ideal candidate will be an eager and curious reporter with news writing experience and the ability to file clean and timely copy, as well as an interest in culture writ broadly, from art heists to drama at Netflix and podcast beefs to the politics of fashion. The ability to find fresh angles on developing stories is also valued. This position is based in our Washington newsroom.
