Senior Newsroom Planning and Project Development Editor

The Washington Post is seeking an organized and energetic journalist to join a new strategic and operational department within the newsroom. The Planning and Project Development senior editor will partner with the team’s director to oversee the creation, implementation and maintenance of a newsroom editorial calendar that will serve as a single source of truth to network teams across the organization and ensure that our most important and thoughtfully planned journalism is optimized in all aspects. This senior editor will work closely with the director and the department’s project editors—as well as planning and project development editors and coordinators across the organization—by focusing on the strategic efforts that will result from creating and maintaining a holistic picture across enterprise, launches, expansions, investigations, special projects and other editorial initiatives. They will work with other editors, both on and off the team, to establish connections and insights that will ensure projects coming from all corners of the newsroom are accounted for and that a cohesive narrative is present and communicated, internally and externally.
