Deputy Opinion Editor

The Washington Times is seeking a Deputy Opinion Editor to assist with the oversight and management of the solicitation, selection and production of unique and compelling commentary articles and op-eds that contribute to and lead current national political discussion and debate. The successful candidate also will write editorials that set the tone and position of the editorial policy of The Washington Times. This position requires clear and effective writing skills and the ability to see opportunities in the news cycle and fill them with timely pieces.

Bachelor’s degree with journalism major strongly preferred. Five years of experience editing and writing opinion pieces. This position requires the ability to manage multiple and sometimes conflicting priorities. Excellent writing, editing and interpersonal communication skills and a proven ability to meet competing deadlines are necessary.
