Leading Hollywood industry news organization TheWrap is seeking an experienced political news reporter for its Los Angeles newsroom. (Remote candidates out of New York City and Washington, D.C. will also be considered.)
The politics reporter will join our edit desk on a part-time basis and be expected to contribute breaking news reports as they relate to Capitol Hill’s cross section with Hollywood, as well as originally reported political and analysis features for our WrapPro subscription vertical. The ideal candidate will be highly organized and enthusiastic, well-sourced and capable of multitasking in a high-pressure breaking news workplace.
Wire service experience and a thorough knowledge in politics and the entertainment industry are most welcome.
Required skills:
At least 3-5 years experience working in a fast-paced newsroom and/or covering politics, political media and Washington, D.C.
Top-notch reporting, writing and communication skills
Superior news judgment with a drive to dig deep in your reporting
Expert knowledge in news media, politics and current events
Topical knowledge in Hollywood industry news and its players
Proficient and speedy on a CMS such as WordPress
Typical salary range: $40,000 – $50,000 (this is a part-time position)
