Breaking News Lead Writer, South Asia

We are looking for a senior journalist to join the South Asia Breaking News Hub as its lead writer. The successful candidate will be a strong and quick writer with experience covering political, economic and business news in real time. You will be able to handle everything from a flare-up in India-China tensions and India’s climate–change dilemma, to economic meltdowns in the region and Indian regulatory battles with the big U.S. tech firms. Our South Asia Hub team is at the front line of breaking news in the region, the first to alert our global audience to major developments in a region that is home to a quarter of humanity. As lead writer, you will be primarily responsible for kicking off the news cycle with stories crafted quickly for a global audience, with punchy intros, tight prose and great nut graphs of context and significance. You will be able to jump from subject to subject with expertise and flair, cutting through jargon and complexity with the help of beat reporters.
