Correspondent, Pakistan

Reuters is looking for a correspondent with a penchant for breaking news and developing stories as part of the Pakistan team. The position, based in the financial capital, Karachi, will primarily involve covering economic news, but candidates should have the versatility to work on politics and general news – particularly on developments important to an international audience. This will be a remote position, with the successful candidate working from home. Pakistan is a fascinating, and often underreported, economics story. This will be an exciting and challenging opportunity to work on a wide array of issues, including monetary and fiscal policy, the energy and commodities market, as well as the country’s vibrant and burgeoning startup scene. The challenges faced by Pakistan’s economy and its business community will be in particular focus as well as the government’s attempts to address these challenges. The candidate will also be expected, from time to time, to cover developing political and general news stories, and work with freelancers in other areas of the country, such as Balochistan. Interest in climate and its impact on the economy will be a bonus.
