Thomson Reuters is seeking an Editor-in-Charge to lead the Health team in Bangalore. This is a position for a dynamic correspondent and aspiring leader to drive the Bangalore newsroom’s coverage of North American pharmaceutical, biotech and healthcare companies. With several multi-billion dollar deals in the making, this year promises to become one of the busiest years ever for healthcare acquisitions. The successful candidate will play a leading role in reporting and shaping coverage of some of the most exciting deals of the year – a great opportunity for an enterprising reporter and editor to showcase his/her talent. Drug company stocks are often among the biggest winners and losers on the U.S. stock exchanges. The successful candidate will be able to react quickly to FDA announcements and write with clarity to tell our readers why a particular drug is important to a company and to the wider world. S/he will look for innovative ways to tell stories that differentiate our coverage. S/he will be able to identify industry trends and will have a keen eye for the next big winner – or loser – in a particular field of healthcare. The ideal candidate will have a strong track record of reporting company news and operating in a global team. S/he will be able to inspire a team of reporters, leading from the front with their own stories to ensure that our coverage is accurate, fast, free from bias and full of the context required by our global readership. Though prior knowledge of healthcare and drugs is not a prerequisite for this job, the successful candidate will be expected quickly to build up his/her knowledge of the sector.
