Editorial Technology Specialist

Reuters is seeking a technology-minded journalist, or a journalism-minded technologist, who can work across a variety of teams to bring existing and novel technical solutions to real-world newsroom problems in our Bangalore bureau. The individual will focus initially on making full use of Reuters’ in-house interactive data platform, constructing and testing story templates that produce real-time information in clear, readable prose. They will also be expected to act as a primarily liaison between product/technology and editorial teams when it comes to the use of new tools or technology, both to advocate for newsroom needs and to look for new opportunities. The job requires a combination of curiosity about workflows, lively interest in technology and an ability to “translate” between users and developers. As Editorial Technology Specialist, the successful candidate will play a key role in the newsroom reaching editorial and strategic goals. The role will be focused initially on creating solutions that help us scale and improve our coverage of India itself for the local financial professional audience, but with an eye toward solutions that can be deployed globally as well.
