Pharmaceuticals Correspondent

New Posted 29 December 2022 | Tokyo, Tokyo, JP | Thomson Reuters

Reuters is looking for an ambitious Pharmaceuticals Correspondent to help anchor our coverage across Asia and produce agenda-setting stories. The successful candidate will report on the fast-growing pharmaceutical industry across Asia, one that is becoming ever more crucial to the global supply chain for prescription medicines. China is the world’s biggest supplier of pharmaceutical ingredients and aims to rival multinational drugmakers in testing and developing novel treatments. Indian companies produce nearly one-fifth of the generic drugs used globally and is home to the Serum Institute, the world’s largest vaccine maker. Japan remains a center of innovative science for the pharma industry and is beginning to push back against paying some of the highest drug prices of any country. The ideal candidate would serve as a partner to pharma industry reporters in Asia and globally, helping identify, report and write stories of global importance. The reporter would be deeply sourced among pharmaceutical and biotech executives, government health officials and industry investors. The preferred location for the role is Tokyo, but open to be based in other Asia locations if a successful candidate is identified there.
