Reuters is looking for an experienced journalist with outstanding news judgment, knowledge of financial news, and ability to work at speed to drive our breaking news coverage in Japan. This is a high-paced, action-packed, and senior role in one of the Tokyo bureau’s largest teams. From natural disasters, corporate restructuring, currency intervention and beyond, news from Japan regularly makes front-page news for our global audience. With regional tensions intensifying, traditional corporate giants under threat from new challengers and a monetary policy under scrutiny, the world’s third-biggest economy is home to a busy and exciting file. As senior correspondent of the breaking news hub, the successful candidate will help lead a team of journalists generating breaking news coverage across a full range of topics. Based in Tokyo, this role will act as deputy for the Breaking News Hub Chief in organizing event coverage planning and coaching other team members in monitoring and making lightning-fast news judgment. The senior correspondent will be just as comfortable sending bulletins on major corporate news as they are writing through updates on other top stories of the day.
