The Role
TIME is expanding its News Desk and is hiring an evening Reporter to be on the frontlines of news, delivering clear, concise, and engaging reports on a variety of topics, from sports to global protests and everything in between. You'll need to have your finger on the pulse of the news, the first to interview, and the first to get your story up, all while maintaining accuracy and journalistic integrity.
Responsibilities
Report and research quickly and accurately, and conduct interviews with sources on the fly.
Craft clear, concise, and engaging general assignment news and trending stories.
Meet tight deadlines, filing multiple stories per shift, without sacrificing quality or accuracy.
Collaborate with editors, photographers, and videographers to ensure comprehensive coverage.
Stay up-to-date on current events and trends to provide insightful context to your reports.
Be a team player, always willing to help out and share information.

Qualifications
1-2 years of experience working in a newsroom working in a reporting capacity.
Excellent writing and communication skills, with a focus on clarity, brevity, and accuracy.
Experience in breaking news reporting, preferably with a proven track record of meeting tight deadlines.
Strong interviewing skills and the ability to build rapport with people in stressful situations.
Resourcefulness and a knack for finding information quickly.
The ability to work independently and as part of a team under pressure.
Proficiency in social media platforms and content management systems.
Enthusiastic about innovation, positive-change, and collaboration.

Location:
This is a hybrid role. Eligible candidates for the role must be within a commutable distance of TIME’s New York City office upon hire and may be expected to be physically present as needed (typically 3 days/week).
Hours
This reporter will have the opportunity to work the hours of 12PM ET - 8PM ET (or 1PM ET - 9PM ET depending on the time of year).

Salary for this position: $63,000 commensurate with experience
