Senior Editor, Signature Voices

Times Opinion is looking for an ideas-driven editor and versatile manager with experience across a range of subject matter to oversee the work of our columnists, newsletter writers and their editors. This editor will be working with these high-profile, deeply expert writers to help develop ideas with maximum ambition, creativity and digital sophistication, and offer feedback in service to clear, absorbing prose, insightful arguments and illuminating pieces about major ongoing issues. You would work with these signature voices on our writing staff to grapple, when warranted, with breaking news and the most urgent topics of the day to help create a purposeful vision and mission for coverage and execute it with determination and nimbleness. We’re looking for someone with deftness and expertise at bringing value-added input to highly experienced writers who operate independently, with the aim of helping these writers achieve their ambitions and pursue a variety of goals, from excelling at the traditional column form to pursuing longer-form essays, Sunday Review cover stories, multimedia work and podcast appearances, projects and other endeavors. This editor will have sharp editorial and news judgment and an enthusiasm for collaboration; a background in opinion journalism is a plus but not a requirement. This editor must be a team player, working with other editors and our audience team to find ways to deepen our engagement with Times readers and find new audiences for our work.
