Lee Enterprises and ICT, formerly Indian Country Today, are partnering to produce enterprising coverage of Indigenous peoples and issues in two key locations – Tulsa and Rapid City – and if you’re an experienced reporter who would like to be a key part of that effort, read on. This job position is specifically for the Tulsa position.
Both of these outstanding reporting opportunities offer excellent salary and benefits. The reporters will join the staffs of the Tulsa World and Rapid City Journal, respectively, and will work in tandem with editors from both ICT and the respective news organizations. Both ICT and Lee recognize the need for deep, comprehensive coverage, and the reporters will have a voice in story selection and planning. Indeed, self-starters who regularly pitch ideas and will brainstorm new ways to cover Indigenous communities are desired. Successful applicants will have demonstrated writing and reporting ability at the professional level; at least three to five years’ daily experience or the equivalent is preferred. The reporters will handle a mix of daily stories, weekend features and longer-term projects. The ability to photograph and to produce video, both to accompany stories and to produce occasional broadcast packages for ICT’s daily newscast, is essential. Experience with podcasting and other platforms is a plus. We will expect these reporters to have a strong professional presence on social media.
