WWNY TV in Watertown is seeking a reporter for its longtime bureau in St. Lawrence County. This is a great job for the right person. It's a videojournalist gig, meaning you'll be using a video camera yourself to get the pictures and interviews, editing the story yourself, appearing on camera.
Why you want the job: more than competitive pay plus overtime (along with 401K/benefits.) You'll work with a newsroom full of veterans. Stable, long term tv station management. Lots of independence. Generally Monday to Friday.
We are owned by Gray Television - one of the best companies where journalists can do local reporting.
Duties include: responsibility for covering the largest county in New York state. Enterprising stories while tracking developments in government, courts, business and education. St. Lawrence County has four colleges, one of the world's great rivers, one of the world's great parks - there is a lot to report on here. The bureau is located in the county seat, Canton, NY. Our ideal candidate is either a television reporter with a couple of years' experience who is looking for something different, or a newspaper reporter who wants out from corporate newspapering. Journalism chops are more important than TV skills - we'll train the right person. Resume (and if you have it, reel) to....
