Job Description
This role is hybrid. Team members who are in a hybrid role typically spend three days a week at the listed U.S. Bank location(s), while having flexibility on their work location for the other working days. This position is not eligible for visa sponsorship.
This position can be based in any of the following locations: New York-NY, Chicago-IL, Minneapolis-MN, Charlotte-NC, San Francisco-CA and does not offer relocation assistance.
As the Executive Communications Writer for Wealth, Corporate, Commercial and Institutional Banking (WCIB), you will be a driving force for executive-level communications, spearheading all key internal and external communications programs and initiatives across the entire WCIB organization.
Responsibilities include:
Develop strategic messaging across various channels for the Vice Chair of the global WCIB business.
Spearhead and write high-quality and compelling content, including executive messaging and communications, and thought-provoking editorial pieces.
Originate ideas for content from industry news, external as well as proprietary research, and timely events.
Curate content from meetings/interviews with senior management for new content, white papers and other thought-leadership opportunities.
Synthesize sophisticated and complex topics into more digestible content.
Write, edit, and proofread WCIB thought leadership and capabilities communications, including print/online, video scripts, speeches, brochures, letters/emails, and presentation materials.
Initiate and conceptualize content programs and campaigns.
Work with product and regional leadership to write bylined articles for targeted pitches.
Contribute to the overall WCIB Communications team, including participating in strategic communications planning and collaboration across the broader U.S. Bank Public Affairs & Communications team.
Ensure global brand and communication alignment and consistency.
Coordinate with marketing and other departments on design and distribution of communications.
Qualifications, Skills And Capabilities
At least 10 years of successful writing experience as a professional content writer/editor in financial services; solid, proven understanding of investment services, wealth management and corporate and commercial banking, highly desired
Proven ability to seek out and develop compelling stories from scratch as well edit content.
Stays current on news trends such as key market, political, economic, and social changes, and is able to adapt communications accordingly where appropriate.
Ability to adapt and tailor voice, tone and message to sender as well as to specific audience.
Excellent communication skills, including the ability to convey complex ideas clearly.
Superior writing, grammar and proofreading skills; excellent editorial judgment.
Proficiency in interpreting statistical and financial information; strong ability to translate data to support written statements.
Demonstrates ability to prioritize and meet deadlines with efficiency and accuracy.
Self-motivated and passionate about storytelling.
Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Bachelor’s degree, preferably with a major in English, journalism, economics, or similar discipline.
