In this position, you will use your editing and management skills to guide our Real Estate coverage and help homebuyers, sellers and renters navigate the housing market as well as make smart choices when it comes to home improvements and renovations. You’ll be responsible for collaborating with the director of our real estate vertical to create new franchises, which will require data analysis, methodology creation and content packages. In addition, you’ll be managing freelancers and assigning and editing real estate stories using your expertise and journalistic judgment combined with search engine optimization best practices to assign, shape and edit compelling real estate stories from contributors. A typical day includes using SEO tools to determine topics to cover and optimize content for search; identifying existing stories in need of an update; responding to freelance story pitches and assigning stories; updating the real estate editorial calendar; and editing a handful of stories for publication in the coming days. You will report to the managing editor of Consumer Advice and collaborate on content strategy for our audience, which includes everyone from apartment dwellers to homeowners seeking to renovate or buy a second house.
