About the role

The communications team is looking for an enthusiastic and organised self-starter to help manage communications for dmg media. The successful candidate will be joining a close-knit creative and busy team in our New York offices in Astor Place.

Main Responsibilities

Develop and execute strategic communication plans to support the company's goals and objectives.
Serve as the primary point of contact for all internal and external communications, ensuring messages are consistent and aligned with the company's brand identity.
Manage media relations, including building and maintaining relationships with journalists, editors, and key media outlets.
Create compelling content for various communication channels, including press releases, newsletters, website content, social media platforms, and internal communications.
Oversee internal communication initiatives (MyHub) across the US to ensure consistent messaging and alignment with company values.
Build and maintain strong relationships with media outlets and journalists, sending stories to various partners for promotion.
Act as the primary point of contact for media inquiries and proactively pitch stories.
Oversee the organising of internal and external events for in-house (holiday parties) and commercial purposes.
Develop and implement crisis communication plans to address potential issues and protect the company's reputation.
Serve as the spokesperson during crises and manage communication responses.
Oversee the creation of compelling and engaging content for various platforms, including press releases, articles, blog posts and social media.
Manage the relationship with our external PR group when needed, especially when an outgoing statement is deemed necessary.
Work closely with the Editor in Chief in the US and wider editorial teams globally.
Keep aligned with the Director of Comms in the UK office.
Support DMGT parent company.

Person Specification

Proven experience in a similar role, with a successful track record of developing and implementing effective communication strategies.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to craft clear, concise, and compelling messages for diverse audiences.
Strong media relations skills, with experience in building and nurturing relationships with journalists and influencers.
Proficiency in digital marketing tools and platforms, including social media management, content management systems, and analytics tools.
Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment, managing multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.
Strategic thinking and problem-solving skills, with the ability to anticipate challenges and develop proactive solutions.
Exceptional attention to detail and organisational skills, with a commitment to delivering high-quality work on time and within budget.
