Variety, the most trusted source for the business of global entertainment, is hiring a TV Reporter to our newsroom to cover the television business, with an emphasis on breaking news primarily revolving around content-related transactions, corporate strategy shifts, ratings and audience measurement and major executive moves.

The ideal candidate has at least 1-2 years of experience as a reporter, and experience working in a busy, large newsroom is a plus. Candidates must have a strong interest in TV as a medium with the ability to establish themselves in the industry. Candidates must be collaborative with peers and senior editors and willing to invest significant time to learn about the industry and its history. The ideal candidate has a basic understanding of how the entertainment industry functions.

Job requirements include:

Must be a self-starter in generating stories, responding to breaking news
Has a flair for storytelling
Must be comfortable in writing and posting news stories quickly
Has strong time management skills and is able to juggle long-term and quick turnaround reporting and writing assignments
Must be open to working some nights and some weekends as necessary to handle breaking news
Is meticulous on details, accuracy and fairness in reporting
Must be able to handle writing two-three news stories a day in addition to long-term assignments
Can generate enterprise editorial ideas, live event and franchise opportunities for Variety across all platforms
Will become proficient in live media moderating, on-camera interviews and speaking appearances for Variety events and on behalf of Variety for other media/events

The wage for this role is $66,750. Factors that could be used to determine your actual salary may include your specific skills, years of experience and comparison to current employees already in this role. The total compensation package for this position will also include other elements, a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits including 401(k) eligibility and paid time off benefits.
