The Newsroom Intern will report and produce daily content for the Vermont Public newsroom. The intern will work with news editors, hosts, producers and reporters to learn and assist with entry-level tasks and larger assignments. This may include reporting stories, producing and booking interviews, publishing web pieces, and producing audio features. The intern will also help with the environmental newsletter Out There.

Learn to use Grove CMS. Be able to file and publish stories to vermontpublic.org under your own byline.
Learn to use audio editing software. Be able to edit and post audio/newscasts.
Learn to record audio and produce your own audio stories.
Learn to write clean copy in AP style.
Learn to file stories on air for Vermont Public.
Learn to craft a story proposal. Be ready to pitch stories to future newsrooms.
Learn to execute a story plan. Be prepared to go into the field, and file complete, well-crafted stories.
Education and Experience
Must be authorized to work in the United States. Be able to be physically present in our Colchester Studio. We can accommodate flexible schedules within regular business hours.
Any student (undergrad or graduate) or recent graduates studying journalism, media, communication or with an interest in public media journalism are eligible. Access to a car is preferred.
Compensation:
$17/ hr, 30-40 hours per week. Dates flexible for start and end (mid to late May to Mid to late August);
