We are looking for a smart, hardworking, ambitious real estate reporter to help cover the extraordinary property market in Vero Beach, Florida. Big deals happen daily here, with luxury waterfront homes listed for as much as $60 million and innovative new subdivisions greenlighted by the county commission.
To do this job, you need to have at least three years’ experience writing about real estate and be able to track down and successfully interview property owners, developers, brokers and builders.
You need to know how to navigate government websites to find plans, permits and approvals and be able to interpret the actions of commissions and councils to our avid readers, who include most of the top real estate professionals.
You need a nose for news and the ability to turn the facts of a deal or development into a compelling story. Accuracy, honesty and an engrained sense of journalistic ethics are essential.
If you possess these qualifications, can deliver crisp, clean copy on deadline, and would like to live in a beautiful resort town on Florida’s Treasure Coast, please get in touch.
While many daily newspapers continue to falter and fade away, our weekly papers keep getting thicker. We offer stable employment and above average compensation.
To apply for the position, please send a brief cover letter, resume and several published clips to Managing Editor Steven M. Thomas: thomasorng@aol.com
