Economic Policy Reporter

New Posted 25 January 2022 | Remote | Vox Media

Vox is looking for an Economic Policy Reporter who can bring clarity to covering some of the most important debates, arguments and developments on their beat. We’re particularly interested in candidates with a background or interest in covering the economy and economic policy, broadly speaking, and we’re eager to hear your ideas about how you’d approach that beat. But we’re open to considering writers with other areas of policy expertise with a strong pitch for what their work would bring to Vox. We are looking for reporters who want to produce work that is both explanatory and revelatory. Strong candidates are passionate, curious and open to being surprised by what their reporting reveals. They’re eager to explain the details of policy and the intellectual debates that shape it. Their best work is informed by reporting, including conversations with policy experts, activists, academics, and the people who are directly affected by the issue. They should be comfortable with analytical, argument-driven writing that seeks to start a conversation. Since policy is made in the real world, an understanding of the interplay between politics and policy is critical.
