WAVY-TV 10 is looking for a Digital Video Producer to join our talented team.

A key member of the newsroom’s digital team, this digital video producer helps to produce and distribute live and edited video using various platforms, programs, and techniques. The producer also curates interesting, accurate, informative, and high-performing content for our website, the station’s social media accounts and other digital products.

You will work alongside and collaborate with WAVY reporters, anchors, producers, and other members of the newsroom to create informative and important coverage for our audience across the Hampton Roads region. You will have the opportunity to utilize state-of-the-art digital and television technology, video, and graphics.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

Producing videos for digital-first and breaking news stories and edited reports, including various versions for social media
Assisting with live streaming of WAVY.com programs, breaking news, and special live coverage
Working in a fast-paced newsroom, contributing to the editorial process, supporting the digital team and digital goals.
Actively discovering, shooting, editing, and creating news content, including articles, photos, videos, social media posts, user-generated content, etc.
Training and supporting station staff with video projects and creative digital storytelling
Sharing local content to national outlets and other Nexstar Digital platforms across the country
Other duties as assigned

Specialized Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

Video editing skills are a must. Ability to edit videos quickly and professionally for all platforms.
Knowledge and skill in online live streaming, social media, and YouTube publishing.
Collaborate with reporters, anchors, photojournalists, producers, promotions, sales, and engineering staff.
Proficient and savvy in social media platforms, tools, and best practices.
Strong news judgment, journalistic integrity and understanding of viewer needs and expectations.
Excellent verbal, written, grammatical and analytical skills.
Ability to meet quality standards throughout the editorial process.
Must be able to take feedback and work within a team.
Flexibility to work any shift, in a high-stress environment. Working occasional holidays and overtime may be required due to the news cycle.

Education/Experience:

Bachelor's degree in journalism, communication, or related field; TV/film or equivalent experience may substitute 2+ years’ experience in digital publishing, television production.
