ALTA IT Services has a contract to hire opening for a Web Content Editor to support an Owings Mills, MD based health insurance customer. This is a hybrid remote/onsite position with onsite days at the company’s Owings Mills, MD office.

The Web Editor responsibilities include but are not limited to supporting the content editing and implementation for all external-facing web, email, and other digital projects; effectively making web edits that drive to achieve Marketing and Sales Corporate business goals and priorities; and proficiently and succinctly ensuring web edits are made in adherence to documented guidelines and expertise. There is an emphasis on managing web content projects and keeping business owners informed of the progress. In addition, there are day-to-day activities that include editing copy for the web, validating the look and feel, editing content both within the content management system and within HTML coded websites, and editing and adding PDFs to the websites.

Essential Functions

35% WEB CONTENT MANAGEMENT & QUALITY ASSURANCE: Performs web edits which include basic HTML coding to ensure proper location, look and feel and functionality of web content. Ensures proper web content styles and guidelines are followed when making web updates. Ensures proper META data tagging is done on the content for internal website search. Ensures search engine optimization and 508 compliance guidelines are followed when making content edits. Ensures websites are accurately updated and validates all content edits are made accurately on all online properties. Works with customers in determining website requirements and needed revisions throughout the entire development process. Selects and applies the most effective delivery method for the content and converts selected content into static and dynamic web pages using approved tools, technologies, standards, styles, and languages.
25% WEB PROCESSES AND PROJECT MANAGEMENT: Assists with the change process for all content edits on external facing company websites to ensure that the site’s content is in compliance with current legal and branding regulations. Assists in the writing and review of Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) documents for web editing. Ensures appropriate process is followed when assigned content edits. Prioritizes web content edits and project work and deliveries content edits on time and with detailed follow up and follow through to Manager or assigning team member. Uses web analytics and SEO reports and knowledge to help streamline content and make recommendations for more optimal site user experience through improved navigation labels, page titles and content stylization.
25% WEB CONTENT QUALITY ASSURANCE & USER ACCEPTANCE TESTING: Assists with testing new website designs, new web pages, and technology when needed. Reviews content to ensure it follows web content standards, CareFirst and related entities writing style, grammar, punctuation and spelling. Monitors web writing for consistency across pages and across websites with each web edit requests. Ensures unit testing and user interaction (UAT) is complete while digital design and development is in a testing environment. Reviews, documents, analyzes, and completes documentation of UAT testing, including defects and issues, on both day-to-day projects as well as for larger, corporate projects. Follows implementation plan and ensures all key objectives are delivered on time and communicated effectively to internal web design and development team.
10% EMAIL PRODUCTION AND DISTRIBUTION: Uses the enterprise email platform to build or edit messages to all audiences. Manages the data integrity of distribution lists. Ensures all messages comply with brand standards. Ensures all message links, content, and other assets function correctly. Produces reports regarding message recipient behavior.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education Level: Bachelor's Degree
Education Details: Communications, Marketing, Writing or related field
In lieu of a Bachelor's degree, an additional 4 years of relevant work experience is required in addition to the required work experience.

Preferred Qualifications

One year experience in web editing, web content management, writing.

Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities (ksas)

Previous web content management and proofreading and editing web content experience.
General knowledge of web usability and functionality.
Basic knowledge in Adobe Creative Cloud (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign).
Familiarity with content management systems (Drupal, Joomla, WordPress, SharePoint, TeamSite, etc.).
Knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite, specifically Dreamweaver, Photoshop, InDesign.
Knowledge of web development coding language: HTML and CSS.
Knowledge in the MS Office Suite, particularly Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
Experience with Search Engine Optimization.
Experience with tagging content assets for 508 compliance.
Working knowledge of Photoshop and photo editing for web.
Experience in digital media including e-newsletters, e-mail templates, online video, etc.

HOURLY RATE: $38/hr. W2, benefits available.

CONVERSION SALARY: $80,000 range annually, plus excellent benefits
