Health Communications Specialist (Social Media)

Weber Shandwick is seeking an experienced social and digital media communications specialist to serve as a full-time embed for the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention within the National Center for Immunization and Respiratory Diseases (NCIRD) as well as Health Communication Science Office (HSCO). The specialist will help plan, implement, and evaluate a variety of health communication and marketing activities from a social and digital media perspective that are designed to impact positive health outcomes. As a Social and Digital Media Communications Specialist, you will work with CDC to:

Social Media

Provide day-to-day social media support for the Center and HSCO as well as help implement Weber-specific social media activities, liaising with internal CDC parties as appropriate.
Develop and implement social media communications programs, projects, and strategies for the general public and other identified audiences.

Draft and develop social media content, as needed
Oversee the trafficking of social content through various stages of approvals.
Provide support for social listening, monitoring, and community management and develop strategies for proactive engagement, emerging trends, and risk mitigation.
Provide social media counsel, technical assistance, and trainings on social media platforms, programs, and best practices for internal and external partners – which, at times, may include platform POVs and implications.
Collect social media data and analytics from programs, using data and insights to help inform the development of health communication strategies and products.

Website / Digital

Provide ongoing review and audit of NCIRD website pages to:

Ensure they are reflective of the most updated language, guidelines, and resources.
Identify areas for consolidation (de-duplication of pages).

Liaise with website developers to communicate necessary changes and updates, including building copy documents and creating website tickets for implementation.
Implement best practices for website traffic management as it relates to the creation of social media content (e.g., inclusion of headlines, meta data, tracking/tagging).

Job requirements:

At least 6 years of experience in social media communications and website management, with a demonstrated passion for and ability to stay current with social and digital media trends
Experience working across social media platforms, including Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram, among others, with an inherent curiosity about emerging digital platforms
Experience with social media management and analytic tools like X/Twitter analytics, Facebook Insights, Sprout Social, Adobe Analytics and others
Strong track record of successfully implemented social media campaigns, particularly those that are integrated across media channels including paid media
Experience writing website copy, preferably for healthcare clients or products
Familiarity with best practices of writing for websites, as well as writing metadata (high level SEO experience)
Experience liaising with website teams (development and UX) to help communicate content updates needs, goals and objectives
Strong written and verbal communication skills with past experience in the healthcare space

Experience managing complex projects in a fast-paced environment
Residence in the Atlanta, GA area and ability to commute to CDC offices as needed
