Position Overview: We are seeking a Senior Editor to join our dynamic team and play a pivotal role in shaping the editorial direction of The Westside Current. As a Senior Editor, you will have the opportunity to lead our talented team of writers and reporters, drive the creation of compelling content, and help us maintain our reputation for high-quality journalism.

Responsibilities:

Lead and manage a team of writers, reporters, and freelance contributors.

Develop and execute the editorial vision, strategy, and calendar to ensure that our content is engaging, relevant, and aligned with our mission.

Assign and edit articles, features, and investigative pieces to meet the highest journalistic standards.

Collaborate with the editorial team to identify emerging trends, issues, and stories that are of particular interest to the Westside community.

Ensure accurate, fair, and ethical reporting in accordance with industry best practices.

Oversee the editorial production process, from story conception to publication, while meeting deadlines.

Maintain and foster relationships with key stakeholders, including community leaders, sources, and local organizations.

Act as a mentor to junior team members, providing guidance and feedback for professional development.

Stay up-to-date with developments in journalism, digital media, and the Westside community to continuously improve our content.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in journalism, communications, or a related field.

Minimum of 5 years of professional editorial experience, with a proven track record in journalism or related roles.

Strong leadership and management skills with the ability to motivate and inspire a team.

Exceptional writing and editing skills, with a keen eye for detail and a commitment to accuracy.

Deep understanding of the Westside community and the issues that matter most to its residents.

Knowledge of digital media trends and the ability to adapt content strategies for online platforms.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

High ethical standards and a commitment to unbiased, fair journalism.
