They write precisely and clearly, as quickly as the news breaks and with compassion and humor to set the right tone for the show. The Editor will play a key role on The World’s daily production team; working alongside the Show Producer, they help conceive and shepherd the broadcast from editorial meeting to live on-air. Additionally, the Editor will manage and oversee the work of producers or reporters.

As an Editor, they will commission and edit stories from reporters and producers, and craft content in creative and distinct ways that help The World stand out on public radio. They are a creative and editorial mentor to producers and reporters, guiding their storytelling to be more ambitious. The Editor helps plan for news events and spots trends and themes.

The ideal candidate has a deep knowledge of international news and demonstrates an innate curiosity about events and people that drive the news in all regions of the globe. Their command of world news positions the broadcast to tell stories that distinguish The World from other news outlets.
