Qualifications
Must be student enrolled in a degree program at a trade school, college or university which recognizes the internship for a class credit. Will need to provide proof of credit from institution.
Applicant needs to be in good academic standing, and provide a signed letter of recommendation from academic advisor.
A self-starter that thrives under the pressure of strict deadline.
Excellent research and writing skills and the ability to work effectively in a team.
Prior knowledge using major social media platforms such as Facebook, Twitter and YouTube is helpful.
A passion for local programming and storytelling is critical.
Working knowledge of the internet and strong computer skills are essential.

Job Overview
WHEC-TV has a paid internship in our News department for the spring 2024 semester. The intern will work directly with experienced members of our news department in a learning opportunity, where the student extends their education beyond the classroom.
Job Responsibilities
Learn newsgathering, writing and reporting by working with our reporters, producers, digital media manager and other news staff.
Writes stories for station websites using such sources as broadcast scripts, Associated Press wire stories and raw news facts. Distribute original content via social networking sites.
Assist producers with the aspects of producing a newscast.
Shadow producers, reporters and photographers.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Compensation and Benefits
When extending an offer, the company considers a variety of factors such as (but not limited to) the candidate's work experience, education/training & key skills as well as internal peer equity and other market and business considerations. The pay range for this part-time, temporary non-exempt position is $15.00 per hour to $15.00 per hour.
