WINK News Southwest Florida’s news leader is looking for a Culture and Arts Reporter. This “beat” is meant to develop content that compliments WINK’s sister publication Gulfshore Life magazine. Gulfshore Life is a luxury lifestyle publication that covers the people, places and culture of Southwest Florida. The Culture and Arts reporter will develop news content for television that reflects what a Gulfshore Life reader would find in the magazine.
Requirements:
The candidate should bring a (sophisticated understanding) of genuine interest and curiosity about culture, tradition, lifestyle and the arts of Southwest Florida.
The ideal reporter will have the ability to write compelling news stories, profiles, and enterprise.
We are not looking for a red carpet or movie junket reporter, we want a story teller.
Must be able to shoot, write and edit.
Strong Live reporter who’s quick on their feet.
This role is a “beat” and requires great scheduling flexibility, which is necessary to cover SWFL’s rich cultural environment.
Experience:
3 years of professional television journalism experience strongly preferred.
Key requirements:
Demonstrates strong news judgment and clear ability to quickly develop story ideas.
Planning skills and ability to see stories beyond today and tomorrow. Must plan for next week and next month.
Displays depth as a reporter and capability of delivering stories.
Has ability to juggle priorities and assignments.
Collaborates effectively with others.
Shows capacity to work on a range of topics and quickly gain sufficient knowledge.
Engages editors on best ways to present stories on digital, print and social media.
Other skills:
Understanding and executing source development.
Demonstrated ability to be highly organized and, when warranted, manage and juggle multiple stories simultaneously.
Must have strong skills in communicating and collaborating with editors and colleagues.
Capacity to shoot photographs when needed.
Excellent communication skills with a collaborative attitude.
