Reporter

New Posted 19 January 2024 | Wrangell, Alaska | Wrangell Sentinel

This may be your last chance this year to embark on a journalism adventure to Wrangell, Alaska, population 2,000 in an island community in the state's Southeast archipelago. This is your opportunity to cover all the charms and personalities of a small town, the unqiue stories that thrive in Alaska, and learn about issues such as commercial fishing, small schools, sports team travel by airplane or boat, outdoor activities, history and Alaska Native culture. We're looking for someone who is inquisitive, who can write a varierty of stories, take pictures and enjoys meeting people. Just keep in mind this is a small town -- no chain stores, no malls, no food courts, no stoplights. What is important is that you enjoy reporting -- and can live in a small town where people eat salmon and shrimp, don't pay too much attention to national politics and don't stress too much about the weather -- which they can't change anyway. Call or email Larry at paper@alaskan.com, cell 907-351-8276. No texts, please (I do not do emojis).
