The Yuma Sun, a daily newspaper in Yuma, Arizona, is accepting applications for the ideal candidate to join our reporting team as our new police and courts reporter. This person will be responsible for covering our law enforcement community, from local police agencies to the Border Patrol, as well as our court system, from criminal proceedings to interesting feature stories.
Applicants will be able to write news and features proficiently, and handle related efforts such as video, photos and social media. We are a community newspaper, and are looking for a candidate who appreciates local coverage and has the diverse skills needed in today's newspaper world. Experience in all these areas is desirable, but a willingness to learn and adapt is essential.
We are located in southwestern Arizona, only hours away from large cities like Phoenix, Palm Springs and San Diego. Yuma is a growing desert community with outdoor recreation, including water recreation on nearby rivers and lakes. The mountains and ocean are not far away.
