Lumen

Lumen is the world's first hand-held, portable device allowing anyone to measure their metabolism with a single breath. Lumen provides insight into real-time metabolic state by using CO₂ and flow sensors to determine metabolic fuel usage. By combining this measurement with context about the conditions in which it was taken (pre or post-activity, fasting, or meals), the Lumen app then makes personalised nutrition and lifestyle recommendations to coach users toward metabolic flexibility and health. Until recently, this measurement was available only in clinical settings using a metabolic cart. Lumen’s unique device is validated to be on par with the gold standard metabolic measurement, as revealed in a peer-reviewed study from the University of San Francisco as well as an ARU study.
