David Hamilton

Business and Technology Reporter at The Associated Press (AP)

David Hamilton, an Associated Press business and technology reporter based in San Francisco, is an award-winning former Wall Street Journal reporter with extensive online and print experience managing news teams and covering technology, business, health and science.

As an editor, he builds and manages news teams, sets editorial priorities, runs special projects, manages event coverage and directs and mentors writers. As a writer, he stakes out ground in a given coverage area, reports through complicated, tangled subjects and delivers clean, organized pieces—long or short—that pack an analytical punch and, when called for, a powerful narrative.

He previously managed a team of reporters at the technology news site ReadWrite. During his five-year tenure at CBS Interactive, he managed the CNET news desk and helped launch a business blog network.

Before that, Hamilton spent 14 years as a reporter for the Wall Street Journal in San Francisco and Tokyo, covering biotechnology and the Internet economy, among other beats.

He graduated from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology with bachelor’s and master’s degrees in electrical engineering.
