Ellyn attended NYU's Science, Health, and Environmental Reporting (SHERP) master's program. She loves writing about all things science, but especially enjoys covering climate, ecology, and biodiversity.

She also has a special interest in writing for kids. She previously served as the editorial director for Scienceline Kids: When Art Meets Science, which won best single-issue student magazine in SPJ's Region 1 Mark of Excellence Awards.

A Vermont native, she loves hiking, skiing, bird-watching, and only puts real maple syrup on her pancakes. Before SHERP, she studied English and Environmental Science at the University of Vermont. She loves to travel, and her favorite trips have been to Tanzania, Sri Lanka, and Panama.
