Heather Larson
I first started freelance writing years ago when I signed up for a class titled “Writing for Fun & Profit.” The fun happened right away, but the profit took a bit longer. For fun, I penned stories about my family like “Leave Beer and Pretzels for Santa” and “How to Change a Diaper When You’re on Crutches.” After exhausting my family situations that deserved an amusing spin, I moved on to writing articles for children’s magazines, then sought out ways to help adults parent better. Then I discovered the trades or B2B.
I felt I’d developed a comfortable niche when I started getting assignments from various trade publications, which still frequently happens.
My heart, however, is in the content writing services I offer. Recently I began using my website content writing background to create e-books, which combines components of journalism, content marketing writing and Search Engine Optimization (SEO).
One of my favorite aspects of the writing process is interviewing subject matter experts (SMEs) and learning from them. Then I can share that knowledge with my various audiences.
