Janet Berry-Johnson is a CPA and freelance writer. She earned the CPA designation in 2009. After ten years working as both an auditor and tax consultant, Janet left public accounting to focus on writing about income taxes and small business accounting.

From 2006-2012 as a Senior Associate at Muckel Anderson, Janet performed a full spectrum of accounting functions including audit testing for numerous financial accounts, tests of controls, evaluation and documentation of accounting systems for small businesses and charitable organizations.

Afterwards as a Tax Manager at Mueller and Company, Inc., Janet prepared and reviewed federal and state income taxes for individuals, corporations, partnerships, and exempt organizations. She also prepared internal memoranda, written correspondence/guidance, and other documents for submission to the IRS.

Before moving into freelance writing full-time, Janet was Tax Supervisor at Henry & Horne, LLP where she provided tax consulting and compliance services to small businesses and individuals.
