Shares in ASX-listed intellectual property law group IPH Ltd are in a trading halt following a potential cyberattack on two of its member firms, including market leader Spruson & Ferguson. In its formal notice to the ASX, IPH said it was requesting the move “to enable it to manage its continuous disclosure obligations in relation to a cyber incident it recently became aware of”.

Slater & Gordon CEO John Somerville said the law firm didn’t belong on the ASX, as it confirmed on Friday it was working with private equity firm Allegro Funds on a $150 million buyout. The agreed bid would end a tumultuous 15 years on the stock exchange, something Mr Somerville described as “a positive, welcome development”. This article is for subscribers only.
