Listen to this episode from Tech Disruptors on Spotify. Today’s market dictates that you should be API first, and the best of breed companies are building with this in mind, Postman Cofounder and CEO Abhinav Asthana explains to Bloomberg Intelligence Senior Technology Analyst Anurag Rana. Asthana joins Rana in this Tech Disruptors podcast episode for an in-depth interview to discuss the various places where API can be applied — hyperscale-cloud providers, building an app, AI, gaming, virtual reality and the metaverse.
“As the amount of outsourced developers increases, the nature of development that is being done outside the United States continues to evolve. While this talent was historically utilized primarily for side projects or integrating applications, we now see entire product suites being led by this talent pool. These global teams must increase their collaboration and alignment to succeed cross-functionally and drive greater business results.”
“One area where I see a lot of potential is the simplification of complicated graphical user interfaces. For complex tasks, graphical user interfaces often become hard to use, and actions hide behind rows of buttons, menus, shortcuts, and procedures. They require years of training for people to become proficient, and even then, most people struggle with them. Generative AI trained on domain understanding has the potential to simplify those experiences.”
“The big picture view that we have is that APIs will be even more relevant. AI is a platform shift that will impact every piece of software. AI is also going to require a rethink of how APIs are used and designed; APIs will need to be understandable by AI bots and very simple to understand and integrate with."
