Alex Chatzielftheriou is a Greek entrepreneur and CEO and co-founder of Blueground - a real estate tech company founded in 2013. Blueground provides a network of fully-furnished, move-in ready apartments in 14 cities across the globe for stays of a month, a year, or longer. Having lived and worked in more than 15 cities around the world, Alex sought to provide business and leisure travelers with a hassle-free way to find places that feel like home - to show up and start living from day one. Along the way, Alex disrupted the traditional lease model, enabling flexible living to encourage travel and exploration of the world and its cultures while providing a place to feel ‘grounded’ and call home.
As a savvy and driven entrepreneur, Alex has led Blueground through multiple funding rounds, including securing Series A and Series B investments, raising a total of $78 million to date. Earning respect from other renowned entrepreneurs, Alex began a relationship with New York City-based entrepreneur Kevin Ryan, CEO of AlleyCorp, and added him to Blueground’s Board of Directors.
Alex has been recognized in the start-up industry repeatedly. To name a few, he was selected as a “high impact” entrepreneur from Endeavor in 2015,he was granted the “Hellenic Entrepreneurship” Award in 2016 as well as included in Fortune Greece ‘40 under 40’ in 2019.
Prior to founding Blueground in 2013, Alex was a Strategy Consultant for McKinsey & Company for six years - traveling around the world solving strategic problems for global businesses. He was also an Associate Principal at Samsung Electronics based in Seoul, South Korea. Alex grew up in Athens, Greece with his parents and 4 siblings. He grew up playing basketball and strategy games, and was inspired to build his own company that could solve a problem and fill a need in the world. He currently resides in New York City, Blueground’s headquarters.
